  2. ponae while u r right in ur points, i think "sudhandhiram" is a feeling and not a policy - it cannot be given or taken. It should be felt by every woman. Its a mom who saves gold for her daughter, it is mostly a MIL who is responsible for dowry harassment of a DIL, it is a woman who is indirectly controlling our nation but sill not passing the women's bill..... women's freedom is not in guys hand or rather not in any one's hand. It is open in the air just waiting for every woman to inhale it.
And on Bharathiyaar, I am great lover of his kavidhai / poems & his thinking but has he done justification on his personal life? He hardly respected chellama as chellama... like most of the guys, he alwayz wanted her to match his thought. He might have been bold & avant-garde but he should have respected her conservative thoughts too...on a personal front, most of chellam’s wishes didn’t turn true

  3. Anu ponnae.I am not able to post comments due to me IE issues L I will ask Nisha to post it on behalf of me !
I have never said – it is a male who stops a woman from taking freedom – it can be anyone …. I don’t agree to the point that it is there in the air – IT is a feeling – well said – Gal , our life alone can’t be compared or sited as example for freedom … we know ,there are many who still can’t decide anything on their own , still expects everything from Hubby’s hand - if freedom can be taken freely , why there is a dowry system still ? Education may make some segment of females to take freedom – But It is not a common woman’s thing as of today ! even today , girl babies are being sold – even today u see incidents on marumagal thee kulippu …even today , there is a 60 yr old person marrying 16 yr girl ..it is all situation – even today, girls are struggling to get education… I have gone to many slums – u should see Anu … It is pathetic – a 7-8 yr old girl does all house work while her brother goes for study and I hear her mother / father telling me – Ava padichu enna panna pora ? andha pullaiyavathu veeta kaappathum .. may be ,some cases girls decide on their own – but most of the cases , it is a forced decision.
Gal – Freedom is in the air - it is just that a girl’s hand is tied from taking it up ..
Bharathiyar – I agree 200 % .. he respected Chellama as his wife – but he didn’t appreciate her thoughts – neither her feelings – he was too much on his own dream world and missed to see the reality-and it was unfortunate that he has got a sarasari wife… J his dreams are good and his f/w thinking in his era is ultimate – I respect that !
